Promoting the work of women in science
As a researcher, the visibility of one’s work is key to gaining recognition and advancing one’s career within the academy. This is all the more the case for women, who are still largely under-represented in the scientific community.
A significant part of that visibility can be achieved through popularisation, which makes research topics accessible to a non-specialist audience. However, the routine of a scientist is highly demanding, with actual working hours often exceeding the 100% threshold. In this context, it is difficult to find the time to talk about one’s research outside one’s group of colleagues.
Echo des Sillons offers any woman researcher in the domain of natural or medical sciences to produce and publish an article or video popularising her study, which she can then also use freely.
In this way, we hope to contribute to the recognition of women in the world of science, while at the same time helping to pass on knowledge from the academy to the general public.
